From 2006 to 2010 I produced a majority of the animated logos on Yahoo’s homepage. These logos celebrated holidays and special events. The actual size of the animated logos was about 300x80 pixels. I present them here at many times their actual size for better clarity. The following are a few of my favorites.
Halloween and Holiday Season 2006
This was the first year I started working on the animated logos for Yahoo. The logos produced prior to these were outsourced to a design agency. Since I was an in-house ad designer with an animation background my supervisor felt that it would be more efficient to have me produce the animated logos. I took the designs that the design agency produced and animated them.

In 2007 the production of the animated logos bounced around from one in-house designer to another. Individually each animated logo was a success, but as a whole they lacked consistency and had varying degrees of polish. For 2008 it was decided that I would be the one responsible for producing the animated logos. The design team along with myself would collaborate to come up with ideas and concepts for the logos.

The collaborative process was a huge success. We ran a new animated logo practically every month for the entire year.
Yahoo Logos 2009
2009 was the zenith for animated logos for Yahoo. With the design teams collaborative efforts and my animation production skills we produced some of the funnest logos to grace the Yahoo homepage. After 2009 the company decided it wanted to portray a more mature persona. Slowly the animated logos were phased out to make the site feel less juvenile. The company stopped animating the logo in 2012.
