Charlie’s Dance - Breakdown

This is an example of my animation process on this piece. I started with a reference video. I use the reference to animate a generic CG character in Maya. I do this to get a better sense of how the animation flows and also to see where I can exaggerate the poses of the movement. Finally, I use the CG animation as my reference for the stop motion character animation. The stop motion animation then goes to a pretty standard compositing and cleanup process to get rid of the rig and remove any camera shake.
